01/01: Wii Have A Problem

For the past week wii have been hooked on Super Mario Galaxy.

Super Mario Galaxy

"Hooked on" is actually a bit of an understatement. Since Xmas, wii have become slowly *addicted* to this game. At first wii were skeptical. Hey, wii're not gamers. The only reason wii even have a Wii is because wii had so much fun last July at Gregg and Carrie's playing Wii Sports. Well, Xmas came and a new game showed up on our doorstep. We started messing around with it a bit and, before long, found ourselves unable to put it down.

It's been quite the phenomenon. Gracie loves it. I can't stop playing and now, even Carrie's gotten into and she REALLY doesn't like video games. I guess 1000 5-star reviews on Amazon were all right. This is the perfect game. It's challenging, but not so much that you can't progress. It's beautiful and never-ending. The worlds and galaxies all find new ways for your to twist, turn and torture Mario in outer space. All the while you're pursuing a goal and putting the pieces together to the back story.

Gracie loves to simply WATCH me play and cheers me on as I take on the bad guys. I am the farthest ahead of the entire family (ha ha, yeah me!). This is mostly due to me spending literally hours of my free time on it. I should be cleaning, practicing piano, I don't know, FATHERING, but the Wii has me in its white-gloved and red-capped Mario-loving grip.

It's gotten so bad that we're using game terminology when discussing things in real life (feeding our hungry Luma - aka Sophie, etc...). Wow. That wasn't easy to confess.

Should you wonder whether the Wii is for you. It is. It's for everyone but be warned, just like us, soon after it arrives you too will develop this "problem."

You have been warned.

Searching for stars.
